It
is not uncommon for individuals waiting a long time between passing
of the stool or participating in a diet due to fiber and water consumption.
Increasing dietary fiber in one's diet is believed to help people
regularly defecate and reduce the size of the stool passed. Drinking
more water can help make passing stool more comfortable too. Another
suggestion has been to spend enough time and be patient when passing
stool in the bathroom. If an individual attempts this, they might
experience passing smaller stool.
